The Sheriff's Jail location is one of the largest in the Sheriff's Office.  The Jail is responsible for booking and detention of all arrested persons in the county, including those arrested by local city police agencies as well as the sheriff's deputies. The Civil Division Commander is a Captain and has overall responsibility for the operation of the Jail.  The Jail Commander has the rank of Lieutenant and is responsible for the day-to-day operations.
Due to increasing population and tougher sentencing guidelines, Corrections has become one of the fastest growing industries in the state of Florida.  Most corrections facilities, both state and local, have had to meet this challenge by recruiting and educating more people to meet the demand for qualified officers.

The Jail is divided into four squads with a Sergeant as shift supervisor.

The Jail also has medical staff members to assess and treat ill or injured inmates.
