| The Inmate Transportation Unit at the Columbia
County Sheriff's Office is primarily responsible for the movement of
jail inmates. This includes taking incarcerated persons to court,
attorney appointments, medical appointments and any other court
related matters. Members of this unit also travel around the state
of Florida picking up and delivering inmates from one jail to
another. For example, if a person commits a crime in Columbia County
and is apprehended in Jacksonville, the transportation unit would
send someone to extradite the person to face charges locally |
